This book is an anthology collecting 20 speculative fiction pieces by 20 authors, set across an imagined past and a remembered future. Charting ten decades back and ten decades forward from a single pivotal year — the year of the pandemic — the book looks at 2020 as a point of departure, folding memory and speculation into a single temporal arc. Designed in collaboration with Mariano Spina.
A Book Out of Time
The design breaks one of the most fundamental conventions of a book: opens in the middle. A central figure-eight marks the point of departure, representing time as an infinite loop rather than a linear progression. Pages to the right move forward into the future, while those to the left move backward into the past. The act of reading becomes a navigation through speculative time.
